Clinique Beyond Perfection Foundation + Concealer First Impression

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer First Impression - BeautyMindSpirit

Hey Darlings. I decided to try out Clinique's Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer. I've heard a lot of people rave about it through YouTube and since I have combination skin - I'm always on the lookout for a great foundation that helps keep my oily t-zone under control. The price of the foundation is $27 USD for 1fl. The price isn't too bad for a more higher-end foundation.

I did notice that the range didn't have a lot of options for fair skin. Also, it seemed a little limited in the darkest range as well. I am more pale than usual and I found that the lightest shade would've worked, but it had a more pink undertone and I needed a yellow one instead. So, I went a shade darker in Linen which had more of a neutral/yellow undertone. I am very happy with this color and it ended up working really well for me.

Application went on really nicely with a beauty blender. I haven't tried this foundation with a brush, because I feel as though the heaviness of it would most likely look a bit cakey applied that way. I'd rather use a damp beauty blender to make sure that it removes any extra foundation that isn't necessary for the skin.

If you have any dry patches, you will need to use a heavier moisturizer and primer to prevent this foundation from clinging on to your dry areas. Since I have combination/oily skin - the outer perimeters are more dry and the foundation did cling to a couple areas. I also noticed that the foundation didn't do a good job covering up my larger pores. Without a primer or a nice setting powder, it would accentuate some of them as time went on. I believe it's because of the medium-thick consistency of this foundation.
After 8 hours of wear time with Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer

I tested this foundation out for a total of 8 hours wear time. Closer to the 4-5 hour mark, my skin started to look oily. By hour 8, I was really oily. Granted, I did not use a mattifying primer or powder... so this is pretty normal for most foundations with my skin. Upon first impression, the foundation was nice, but it didn't blow my mind.

If you have dry to normal skin - use a heavier moisturizer and primer to prevent dry patches
If you have combination to oily skin - make sure to use a mattifying primer

**Since trying this foundation, I have used a different moisturizer and a mattifying primer. Not only that, but I found that mixing this foundation with Maybelline's Fit Me Matte + Poreless is my new favorite way to wear foundation. With Maybelline's extra pore coverage and lightweight texture... the two just work magic on the skin. I still apply using a damp beauty blender. I am LOVING them together and so in love with how my foundation looks.**

Overall, I like this foundation. I think it provides a pretty coverage to the skin. It gives me a full coverage with only one layer. It does a good job concealing my skin. I will continue to use this product!
